Our Story

The Good Estate Agent is owned by married couple Rob & Sue Bryer. The business has been built outwards from that relationship and is therefore strong at its core, with fundamental family values of integrity, compassion and optimism guiding our ethos.

Rob, Sue & the team run the company from our head office in Kent. We operate from a rural office, fortunate to operate in an environment surrounded by wildlife and sea views, one of the most cherished benefits of remote working, no-longer chained to the high street!

It’s not unusual for the odd chicken to come wandering in to the office!

Rob’s first career was with Allied Dunbar working as a financial advisor but in 2007 Rob & Sue decided to set up on their own and opened a company called Seaview finance. Things went from strength to strength and they decided to open a high street estate agency to complement the business. After one year, as things were going well they decided to open a second branch.

As with many many others the turbulence and volatility of 2008 completely altered their prospects, though much struggle came along with that, Rob & Sue began concentrating on the lettings side of business which was booming.

By 2010 the trend was becoming obvious, the office was visited less and less whilst the online business was growing steadily. Rob and Sue made the decision that the office was simply an unnecessary expense and so became one of the first in the industry to operate as a hybrid estate agent, a business model that proved exceptionally efficient and has now been adopted by many competitors.

Family has always been the driving force for Rob and Sue, it’s always been essential that they reserve themselves the time, that rare resource, to have quality moments and experiences with their two boys. (In fact this is Tom, their eldest son writing this story) This is what motivated them to take the leap in to self-employment and a less regimented existence. The business works around the family, never vice versa.

After their success Rob & Sue decided it was time to replicate the model and show others how they could make a substantial income working from home. A team was assembled including sales and property managers and they set out to recruit agents across the country. This time however the hard work had been done for the agents. The systems and support was in place and the agents simply had to go out and get the business that was there waiting for them.

There have no doubt been many bumps in the road along their journey, but after riding the same avenues for over a decade these bumps have been levelled out by The Good Estate Agents unparalleled software, systems and experience which allow for management in the most optimal way. All of these assets will be available.

As an agent you get a mentor and support team to help you build your business. You will then benefit from earning up to 80% of the commissions you generate and have a support team in place who answer calls and provide admin and support and much more. Our agents are also looking for local agents to join their teams.

What’s more we have evolved to offer more than just estate and letting agency training.
